- Do I need to be artistic or creative to do art therapy?
Not at all! Art therapy is about expression and self-discovery, not artistic ability and being “artsy”. The focus is on the process, not the final product. Process not perfection! You don’t need to be “good at art” to benefit — it’s about expression, not skill and a willingness to try.

A session usually includes a check-in, a creative process or prompt, art making/talking and reflection time on what emerged through the artwork or conversation — always at your own pace and comfort level. The therapist may play music during the session, show visual images or picture cards, make art at the same time.
